Be Ready for Faster Deliveries of Maruti Suzuki Diesel Car Models (Swift, Swift DZire, Ritz & Ertiga)

The News of Fiat - Tata JV have confirmed supply of Diesel Engines to Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. With this agreement, the production constraints on account of lack of Diesel Engines has been over-come now by Maruti Suzuki. In coming months the waiting period for MSIL Diesel Cars will be reduced and Sales will pick up once again for MSIL's Diesel Cars which they have been losing to competition.

Fiat MultiJet 1.3 Diesel Engine being used in Maruti Suzuki Swift, Swift Dzire, SX4, Ritz,  & now will be used in Ertiga too.

The News :

 Fiat

Fiat and Suzuki Motor Corporation have reached an agreement for the supply of Fiat Diesel Engines to Maruti Suzuki (India).

The Reactions:

 Hormazd Sorabjee

Fiat-Tata JV has finally agreed to supply upto 1 lakh 1.3 Multijet diesels / year for next 3 years to Maruti. Must have charged the moon.

 Hormazd Sorabjee

Fiat 1.3 multi-jet has become the staple diesel engine in India. Fiat makes more from engines than cars in India.

 Hormazd Sorabjee

Tata Motors must have extracted pound of flesh from Maruti for supply of engines from Fiat JV. Would be keen to know what Maruti is paying!

Watch out for the Renault K9K 1.5 diesel. Could be the next best-selling diesel after Fiat 1.3. K9K may power 10 cars by 2014.

Is this the reason why maruti cars are going to be 17k costlier ??

What's the number of 1.3L MJD engines thatMaruti manufacturers now - 2.5Lakh? This 1Lakh is additional to that?

 swaraj

Maruti Fiat engine deal is a win-win for both the companies. But somebody else might lose out

 swaraj

Maruti would have either asked Suzuki Powertrain to set up a new facility or have signed a deal with Fiat, the latter proved simpler

 swaraj

Had Suzuki Powertrain invested crores for a new unit & govt freed diesel prices then demand for diesel cars would have nosedived

 swaraj

The chemistry between Italy (Fiat) and Japan (Suzuki) is proving too good. They almost have similar traits

 swaraj

Maruti can now relax and launch more models using the 1.3 multi-jet. Waiting for its diesel models will fall. All said its a classy engine

I once met a very senior ARAI fellow. He is an inside-out vehicle engineer. "Italians know best how to make machines", his words

So Be Ready for Faster Deliveries of MSIL Diesel Car Models.
